This was just sort of a quick yet real nice project. It is made from backyard maple from the woodpile that has been slightly spalted. The base is made from a chunk of apple i cut with my chainsaw. The cross is held in by my first (successful) mortise and tenon joint. I have a mortise gauge that I got familiar with while doing this project and I must say I love it! I put a few coats of clear shellac on the piece. And yes, it is crooked but do you think the Romans used a square an Calvary?

The cross is currently for sale on my Etsy Shop. Thanks for looking and God bless!

woodnutbutter, your thoughts are deeper than whale $hit….wow !
All this time I was raised to believe that the Cross was a symbol of the sacrifice that Jesus made for us , not a symbol of death.

Brian , I like your project very much : )

woodnutbutter, the cross is a symbol of life you see because Jesus did die on the cross but He rose again. Jesus took all of our sins upon Him who knew no sin. So all of our sins are hung on the cross with Jesus thus, the cross being a symbol of our redemption. Before you go around being a “wisenimer” you should get your facts straight. I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the jew first, and also to the greek. Romans 1:16. Jesus loves you no matter if you hate Him or believe not on Him. Thanks for looking and God bless! dusty56, thanks a lot i appreciate it!

Gents – Woodnutbutter has been posting the same kind of comments on every cross psoted. Thanks for responding on the true meaning of the cross.

She says it disturbs her. It only disturbs those who know the consequence of not accepting what was done on it.

She needs to find another forum for the crusade she’s on.
