I had a friend call me up and and ask if I could make a cross for her to give as a gift… for a baptism… tomorrow…
My original idea was the straight cross, but she wasn’t that keen
So I went with thie more rounded look….
The wood is mahogany with a quick gel stain and lacquer finish. I used my carvewright for the entire thing, including cutting it out. Total carve time was fairly long at about an hour and fifteen minutes, but the carve came out clean (about 3 minutes edge sanding and no face sanding) so I’m ok with a bit of a longer carve.
From phone call to dry and taking pictures was about three and a half hours of work.
Thanks again for your comments and support,
Lawrence

I am not a woodworker, but would like to know if you make these crosses for sale. It is a great gift idea and something really beautiful and different.
Thanks!
