Here is a quick and simple toy box made from white oak. Basically I determined the dimensions based on the boards I had. There are a few defects and stains in the wood but I kind of like it that way. Turned out to be 2 boards wide by 3 boards high was the most logical. Finished size is about 18” tall, 13 1/2” wide, and 36” long. I was able to save the two widest boards to form the lid. It is just screwed together and I placed oak buttons over the holes. This was a nice low stress project that was much needed in our household. I just mixed a few left over stains from other projects so I couldn’t reproduce it if I tried but I do like how it turned out. I wiped on a few coats of poly for for some protection and dropped in a MDF bottom on top of some simple feet from leftovers.

Hi Kansas,
This is a nice toy box. At times, especially when we are involved in a drawn out project, we just need to complete a project quickly in order to feel like we have accomplished something. This looks like one of those projects. It has nice construction and it is a useful project, especially if you have small children in the house.
Thanks for the post.

Many time ill build project that are needed around the house or the shop and just use scraps to keep the budget down. Your project here looks great, Thanks
I once painted my house with left over paint from several different jobs, just mixed it up in 5 gallon bucket and went at it, weird color but didnt cost much.

I like the “board” design on the front. Great use of materials and a functional project. This is a toy box that can grow with your children. The defects are part of the character and show that it didn’t come from some big “box store”. Someday your grandchildren will fight over this!

Very nice toy chest. The design perfectly matches a set of furniture we bought for my son years ago when he was a baby.
By the way, you should upload your photos in a slightly larger size if possible so we can all enjoy your projects better.
