This is a .54 caliber shootable black powder canon. My own design. The barrel is alittle over 7” wood is walnut with a varathane finish. I’ll post some pictures and a short video of it’s first shot.

I like mixing wood and metal working. I turned and bored the barrel on my old Atlas metal lathe that my wife bought me. It was a fun little project that I completed in one evening, typically I have more than one project on the go at the same time, so when one part is glueing or drying, I move on to the other project, and back and forth.

Very cool. I think I still have my molds for my .58 mini ball.

I have an old Atlas metal lathe also. I think it’s older than I am.

Looks like alot of fun. You should talk to Betsy about shop safety. Thanks for posting.

This looks like a fun project to build. I am sure my 4 year old grandsons would love something like this (but of course their parents would shoot me). :)

You are a busy man.

Keep the posts coming.

Interesting desk toy, could bring a whole new meaning to “being fired”. Nice work.

Say, how would that work for a security system? Can you rig it with a remote trigger? I think if you could figure out how to get it to fire off of sawdust you’d have me hooked. Thanks for posting.
