Made this to use here at home. Outside boards are birch, curly maple strips inside that and the middle is walnut. Plugs are 3/8 in and are birch and walnut. Finished with mineral oil, but I’m still gonna add a coat of mineral oil and wax. 2nd pic is before any shaping or sanding actually I think its before I glued the panel up, 3rd pic is one side without oil, and the 4th pic is after the oil. I wish you could see the grain of the curly maple in person it is very cool. Thanks for looking.

Very nice Kevin .
Are the plugs decoration only?
Yes I would keep this one myself .

Gorgeous. The contrasts of the grains and colours is stunning – I love the sweet smell of birch, but have only ever cut it for firewood before – never knew it had such a rich grain.

Kiefer, thank you, and yes the plugs are just for decoration. OP8, Thanks, I had just built a birch entertainment center for someone, and I saved this piece of board just because of the grain and color it had. Thanks Ken, I didn’t decide to put the plugs in until I had already started the board, I wanted to add a little something extra to it.
