My 1st project…I made this flagstand for my American Legion Post. We had 3 polestands, but none of them were the same design and looked like hell. I used an old waterbed frame for the wood (pine) and a rough pattern of a flagstand that we had on one of my previous ships. I cut the holes at 1.5”, but our flagpoles are 1” or 1.25”, so I need to figure out what I can insert into the holes to keep the flagpoles stable…at least the center one vertical.

Frenchie,
The quickest way I can think of would be to use a 1.5 dowel, cut it flush ans drill out the size you need. I would use a dark stain to make it look like you meant to do as a slight highlight. Even better would be to use a darker wood like walnut or ebony if you could turn on a lathe.
Nice work by the way and go Navy yourself…....ha.
