This a set of two identical boxes turned on the lathe.
My Mother in Law was to have a visit from her long time pen pal of fifty years who lives in India, so I set too and quickly made two boxes or bowls with lids so each of them can have a box that would be identical to each other to connect the long term friendship.
The reunion went very well and they were over the moon with the gift!
I am very lucky to have a perfect Mother in Law so it was a labour of love with a one day time frame.
Wood is Jarrah (Eucalyptus marginata).

Very nicely made boxes. Its hard enough to make one, but to make another identical seems to add a degree of difficulty. Awesome gift idea for the pen pals. That wood is a real beaut! I do wish we could get more of it here in the states.
After 25 years, my MIL loves me…she just doesn’t know it yet.

What a thoughtful gift idea. Bet they did love them. You did a great job on these and I love the wood choice.
