June, 2012—The wood is so dark that the photos do not show it very well. I bought this wood from Woodcraft over a year ago, and the label was long gone. Sorry, I do not know the species. Nothing unusual about the design. Finished with Tung Oil. -- Art | Bradenton, Florida

That looks a lot like cocobolo to me, Art. I don’t think the design is mundane. I especially like the knob.

Some beautiful wood and an excellent job on the box. Whatever that wood is I’m pretty sure it doesn’t grow in Oklahoma!
