After several strong hints from my wife I made this bench for her to place in our shower. The bench is made from cedar and is 12 inches deep, 44 inches wide and 16 inches tall. The top has an inset tray for shower items (i.e. soap, shampoo, etc.) and the lower shelf holds whatever didn’t fit on the tray. The fun part on this one was the staggered size plank top and shelf top. There are about 5 different size planks and they are spaced 1/4 inch apart. Everything has rounded edges and eventually covered with a clear waterproof sealer.

That’s a cool idea.
I know cedar has natural properties that slow rotting and water damage, but I would imagine in a shower situation it will rarely ever fully dry so you’d still want something really waterproof.
What are you using for a topcoat? Marine varnish?
