My Grandson “MADDOX” wanted a pirate ship bed for his birthday. I needed something that could be moved, so I came up w/ this design. The Headboard is a bookshelf, The Footboard is a Toy box and the sides of the ship is a stand alone bed. Since it separates into 3 sections, it is easily moved “as seen in the back of my truck” I wanted it to Look like an OLD Pirate Ship so I made it out of individual boards and Distressed each board as I progressed. I have a sail for the back & a working steering wheel for the front ordered. (Didn’t get here in time for B’day). He loves it and I really enjoyed doing it. It was my 1st big project.

Lucky sailor! Good design to use the headboard and footboard as more than just empty space. And it looks like you have a happy customer Only thing missing is the ship’s name – or is Maddox expected to come up with that?

Yeah he’s going to have to think of a name. I’ve got a few more things to do to Tweak it out little, Maybe by then He’ll have it named and I can get a Better Picture of it. Nice to have a woman’s point of view.

Very cool build Bobby! Love the anchor! I’ve yet to build a themed bed but shortly I’ll begin working on a John Deere Tractor bunk bed.
