I made this box for the sister of my Goddaughter. Originally there were going to be two with the same wood but opposite pattern. Due to a problem with the splines, there will now be a much smaller box later. I contoured it with a 4 1/2 in. grinder, Thanks Andy and Greg. The wood is Lyptus and maple lined with felt. I used Formbys tung oil and wax. I think it turned out alright and she seemed to like it.

Again, I can certainly understand her liking it. Guess I shoulda looked at this one before asking about the grinder. But I still have a question regarding what you used to contour it? Thanks for sharing.

Andy,

Great job. How brave to branch off into another form and shape of box. This looks like a real departure from the boxes you have been posting lately. The stripes are a little disconcerting, but I certainly like the shape and contours.

Hey, keep this up and you too will be creating that “used bar of soap” look that my boxes tend to drift toward. Nice job on the internal design as well. Keep boxing and keep posting. I always look forward to seeing what new and different things you are doing. You certainly work at making beautiful boxes.
