This planter box is made completely of free wood scraps and pallets. I plan on having two of these for my deck and once I posted a picture of it on facebook, before I put the sealer on, it looks like A LOT of people want some also haha.
I really just wanted a simple project to make using the free wood I can get from around my work.

I wasn’t even going to seal it because its just scrap wood and didn’t take much time to build. I think the only thing I paid for on this were 8 3 1/2” coated deck screws and about 18 smaller coated screws, and the landscaping felt I’m going to line it with after I get the right size staples for my staple gun. I used some old roofing nails that I found in my shed from who knows when or what, for the side boards.

It actually turned out much nicer than I thought it might. I was planning on having to paint it if the used wood turned out ugly. I actually like the look of some of the used wood. It adds personality. Some of this wood has been who knows where before resting on my deck. I’m going to make the second one as soon as I build a cross cut and miter sled because the chop saw I’m using is not locking in at perfect angles and it will be much easier to use the sled than plating around with that thing.

Thanks for checking out my project, look out pallets here I come! I’ve got to add to my stockpile

UPDATE:

I finished the second box. Its the same dementions as the first. This picture was taken before applying sealer to it.
