Pizza cutting boards from cutoffs

My wife requested that I make some round cutting boards for cutting pizza’s after they come out of the oven. We transfer the whole pizzas to these boards from the metal pizza pan. These boards are easier on the pizza knife.
The first board is made of a cutoff of birds eye maple and roasted curly maple on the sides. The second board is made of walnut, birch, cherry, mahogany and teak. They were cut round on the bandsaw with a home made circle cutting jig. They are both 14” diameter. I decided to try a varnish finish on these, will see how they hold up. I normally use my own made finish of beeswax and mineral oil.
Thanks for looking!

Great looking boards and good idea. Do you find the pizza knife leaves marks on your finish/boards?

Great looking boards! I’ve been thinking I would like to make a cutting board specifically for pizza. Thanks for the inspiration.

Have your say...
