It can be really difficult to find well build pieces that fit your specific space and need. That was the problem that instigated this project. We rearranged our living room and got rid of the huge corner entertainment center. This also resulted in placing a new flat screen TV above the mantle. So I looked into buying a small component rack but the cost of anything close to what I wanted was prohibitive. Besides, it wasn’t like I needed a lot of space anyway.

So I designed the cabinet pictured. This was a little different as far as construction went. I wanted the shelves to be “clean” – meaning, I didn’t want anything on the edges that could collect dust and make cleaning it difficult.

The design was fairly simple and the build was fun – including the temporary jigs I needed to build for the odd angle cuts on the legs and drilling the pilot holes in the shelf supports.

That’s a great looking TV stand and you used about 100% more pre-planning than I would have :) You’ve created a much better solution than you would have gotten going with something non-cost-prohibitive, and you can tell people you made it, which is fun!
