This was the first rattle I made on a lathe; it was for my first daughter (now nine). My second daughter is shown here about to chew on it. I had no clue about how to scale it to fit a toddler’s hands. That’s why it’s so dang big. It IS durable, though! It’s rock maple with no finish.

Nice one there. And the toy is not bad either. Perfect choice of wood and finish(Maple and slobber).

awesome, its funny how they like to taste everything at that age. as for size – I think it’s good size even for that age.

Not to impune your work, but the rattle is no where near as beautiful as the baby. It is VERY nice however.

Great job on both projects, but I’ll bet one was a lot more fun than the other and it took a lot longer to get ready for finishing. :)
