This was another early project. My Wife had a painting by my Mother-in-Law and it would have cost a small fortune to custom frame. The frame is a simple maple frame with a plywood box behind it to hide the canvas. Its 52” wide, 32” tall and 2.5” deep. The corners are half laps. Not fancy, but it works for the Wife.

I have made enough frames to know that “simple” doesn’t describe making a frame!

And this has a box behind it too!

I like the clean lines …. I have never frames that really ornate to the point the overpower the subject matter!

I was worried about the frame moving or twisting since its so big, that’s why I went with the half lap joints. I’m sure the box helps a lot too.
