Combining matching stop dados on the top and bottom with notches in the sides and back makes the cart easy to assemble and very strong. 3/4” MDF with a 1” top. I used a simple guide on the router to match the distance from the edges to match the top and bottom. I got lucky on the back in that it fit right between the sides with no trimming, although it wouldn’t be to difficult to make the back oversized and cut it to fit. I put glue in the dados and some screws through the bottom and pocket holes to hold the top. You can see the old cart in the background which is now used for the planer. Just add locking swivel wheels and its ready for drawers or shelves.
