This is the first project I built that actually made it into the house. It’s a simple bookshelf plan from a PW Arts & Crafts Furniture book. It’s red oak. The shelves are all single boards, so no laminating was required. All the joints are mortise and tenon, 24 joints in all. Lots of practice when I was starting out. The shelves are wedged in place, so the whole thing can knock down and travel flat if ever needed.

It lives in the family room piled with kids book; sorry I wasn’t about to clean it off for pictures :-)

(yes, I’ve got some half decent one coming)

Nice, I like the keyed tenons. Looks like it’s time for another one. :-)

Thanks Brandon. This one is just for the family room, each kid also has their own bookshelf in their rooms, and we have some in the attic play room (I didn’t build those). We’ve got a lot of books.
