Hello! My dad loves Natural Wood furniture. I decided to create him a book shelf. I chose to use Douglas Fur… I know not the norm for furniture wood, but I loved it! It was easy to use and looked amazing with its natural quirks. This shelf comes from a 12 ft and 10 ft boards from Home Depot. the Shelf is 5’x3’. I then customized feet for the shelf to raise it up a bit! He loved it and now I am in love with wood work and looking for my next project!

I have a book shelf that my dad made for me when I was a kid, from doug fir, and it is still in use in my office. It’s 3/4” construction (recycled crossing gates from a railroad crossing), but it looks great in my opinion.
Nice work and welcome to LumberJocks!
