1) vase#1 – basswood, soapstone (base), tempera paint, 2 1/2’ tall

2) vase #2 – Buckeye, Holly (base), 3’ tall

3) vase #3 – Basswood, found objects (pulley wheel, grinding wheel, circular sawblade) base… I used the saw blade as a very large washer. 3’ tall

4) two thrones – chainsawn from Cottonwood, 4 1/2 – 5’ tall

5) hooded table top – chainsawn from Cottonwood, 6 1/2’ half long. This piece started off as a day-bed or chaise lounge, but alas, form follows the funky, rotten places sometimes! What was solid dictated the parameters of what was possible. the finished piece weighs in at around 200 lbs.

great looking vases. I really like the design. your spoon carvings are great also. I make chairs and some of the carved spoons would lend themselves nicely to a high backed chair.

I like your #1 vase very much. It has excellent flow; great carving! Beautiful!

Those vases are tremendous. But those thrones – just delightful! My only question is how a Luddite justifies a chainsaw? Get thee back to Sherwood Forest!

Love the work…
