This is my first attempt at making a gate of any kind. The gate was make of redwood and finished with a cedar tone fence and deck stain/finish that I picked up at HD. This project was challenging and there are many things I would differently, but all in all, I’m pretty satisfied with how it turned out.

Hi Dan,
This is a nice posting. The arched top rail adds visual interest to the piece. You picked a nice wood to work with as well. Redwood is a pretty wood and is easily machined.
Thanks for the post.

That’s one nice looking gate! I see that you decided against any Z bracing.

Great job. Doesn’t it feel good to standback and look at it? Every project I do has that “i would do it different” aspect, but thats where we progress.
Beautiful work
