This was a gift for my Mother in Law. I’m fond of using Gorilla Glue for my boards, and all of them are still in one piece.

Walnut and Hard Maple, straight forward checker design. I made this at the same time as the other board I made with the brick pattern (it’s in the picture as well).

Very nice…I never tire of looking at nice looking cutting boards….one of the few items I have not made for many years…just might have to make a few

I really like the brick pattern one…is there a site with the directions for that one?

Just hard to beat that wood combo, nicely done!

For those that haven’t yet discovered it, there is an excellent cutting board design app (it’s free) that is loads of fun to play with. By Jay, located here: http://www.lastalias.com/cbdesigner/

Hey Bevy,

Next time i make it, i’ll do a walkthrough on it. I used the cbdesigner though, with the flip method. Just have to be sure the horizontal mortar meets the middle of the next row’s brick. The Vertical mortar is pieces of 4/4 that I resawed on the bandsaw, glued up, and flattened/planed untill they were 1/4” thick. When i slice the bricks, i slice the vertical mortar as well.
