A Maul Style gavel for a friend of mine who is becoming Worshipful Master of his lodge, His Fathers Gavel (who will be senior warden) will be put up tomorrow. the head is turned from a nice piece of Ash with some pretty spalting and the handle is a chuck of natural shed elk antler. the finish is about 10 layers of lacquer.

I am Junior Warden for my Lodge, I would love to make some homemade gavels to give as gifts for our Past Masters Night later on this year. I have scavenging the site for ideas and found many ideas. Now I just have to make them. I love the natural look of your gavel and I think I may incorporate it into mine. Thank you!
