This is my first offering on this forum. It is a 7’x4’x2’ cabinet made from 3/4 sandply from homedepot. The 4 inner shelves are adjustable using shelf standards. I still need to apply finnish but it is basically done. hope you like it.

Hi Jim,

What is not to like about the cabinet. It is well built and adds some much needed storage to your garage and shop.

This is a very nice project.

Thanks for sharing.

Jim, this is exactly what I am thinking about building for my garage. Can you post some construction details? Also, I’d be interested in what you estimate your cost was for building it.

Scott- thanks for the comment

Paul – i plan to write it up in my blog.
the cost est is:
4 sheets 3/4 sandply ~$150
luan for the back was $10 +
poplar for the face frame, shelf supports and box to support the bottom ~ $50
misc hardware and fasteners ~ $50

This is off the top of my head. in total i spent around $480 but that includes wood for rip guides, router bits and clamps etc. I’ll try firm up these numbers when i write it up.

Very nice project. Nice size, and with adjustable shelving you can store any size can or bottle you want. The the shelve are also supported for added strength which you will need with a shelf that big. I also like the four doors. We all have things we rarely look at why open a big door for nothing. You may want to lock one set to keep the young ones out. Great design, Great creativity, Great craftmenship.
Thanks for posting your ideas.

This is a fine looking garage cabinet. I’ve got a space occupied by some heavy duty shelving, but something like this would lood so much nicer. Hmmmm….. looks like another addition to my to-do list.

Very nice cabinet. I would like to build something like this for my shop. I would have to unstack them. I try to keep everything below the level of my table saw top. Thanks for the post.

To finish it i am going with a clear coat of poly. I like it plain. Besides the garage is rather dark and i’m afraid that if i were to stain it or paint it that it would make the whole place even smaller than it already is. I intend to make a few more just like this one and so that back wall you see in the photo will be covered in storage rather than the make shift shelves you see. I would like to be able to put all my junk behind closed doors. out of sight out of mind and all that.

That is a nice cabinet. I’d like to have it but hate to have to move it.
