I wish I could claim this as my own design but it is not. My son received a truck like this one for his second birthday from my grandmother who found it at a craft fair in Wisconsin. All the kids at the birthday party liked the truck so much that I made a fleet of them for Christmas gifts.
The best part about this truck is the simplicity. Only simple tools are required, materials are standard dimensions and there are no metal fasteners.
The material list is
2×4 – ripped to 1-1/15×3 for the frame and body the waste makes the bumpers.
2×4 – 2-1/8 in wheel cut from the 2×4 using a 2-1/2 inch hole saw
1×6 – box bottom
1×4 – box sides and cab roof
3/4×3/4 – cab sides and spacer between the frame and box
5/16 dowel – axles
1-1/2 closet rod or 1 inch dowel – Fuel tanks

With all the plastic, high tech, computer chipped toys out now….......Isn’t it wonderful that kids love wood trucks?
And you hand made these toys for them. I think they prize that more.
