Still in design phase… I am in the process of learning Sketchup, so it’s in rough shape at the moment. I still need to add some smoothing to the top “backsplash” boards with some profiling to the same. The skirting will be raised panel faux drawer appearance and dark handles (I’m not sure it they will be shop-made out of ebony or commercial brass, haven’t decided what will look better yet). I also haven’t decided if I want the lower shelf to be solid as shown or using a “slat” approach like older wash-stand types of furniture, so, comments are welcome. I played a little and did a version with the slat lower shelf. LOML and I both like it better. It seems to just look more refined. I wanted a newer “vessel” style sink, but LOML wanted a flush-mount; I still can’t convince her to go with the vessel… even a white one.
Will be constructed of African Mahogany with a Tung and Poly finish.

Interesting design. To tell the truth about the lower shelf I would simply draw another one with the slats and let LOML decide. If you try to I will guarantee you that will be wrong irrespective of the choice you make. After 31 years I have learned to let my wife take care of designing while I handle engineering. :)

I build a vanity like this for my house and really like the look I went with the slats because my thinking was if there ever was any leak it wouldn’t not set on the wood. My wife like the design because she got baskets to hold towels and washcloths. and they add a design element she could change easily when she wanted a change. nice job on the sketch up I am trying to get better at also been doing some of Bobs tutorials
