I built this WV cutout for a friend that recently got married, he is a fourth generation logger so I thought it would be good to represent the different species that his forefathers had cut. It has black walnut, American chestnut, and both white and red oak. Finished with one coat of tung oil and two coats of oil based poly.

Very Cool! What did you use for a pattern?

When I worked for the WVU Department of Forestry there was a guy that had taken a printed off shape of the state and blown it up on a chalkboard with a projector. He made several of these things and I just copied his onto a piece of mdf…... You could freehand one on a piece of mdf if you wanted, I’ve got faith in you.
Yekrub, did you like the tag I put on the end of my description?
