Okay, these are my first attempts at painting wood bowls using water based stains and blending techniques. A little shoe polish helped on the warped African style bowl.

Interesting experiment.

If you’re interested I did a blog on “watercolour dyeing” with aniline dyes that seems similar to what you are experimenting with here.

I had a lot of fun with it.

Definitely check out Shipwright’s blog. He made some awesome aniline dyed boxes.
