This is my first wood project and it was a father’s day gift. My dad found this beautiful piece of spalted tamarind in a Woodcraft store. I added the padauk because I knew they would look like magic together. Finished with danish oil. I think its very cool that the danish oil brought out a multitude of colors in the tamarind that weren’t visual when it was “raw.” Sanded the indentions with drum sanders on the drill press. I have never worked with wood except staining and painting so this was an exciting project. I planned the shape but my boyfriend cut it out on the bandsaw until I get more practice with that machine. I eventually want to make a jewerly box and there are a ton of impressive ones on this site that have sparked my imagination.

Very nice, turned out great, love the wood choices.

I’ll have to hold on to the design, they would make great Christmas presents.

Beautiful combo of woods. I love Padauk but I’ve never seen salted tamarind. Very pretty indeed!

Nice! Very nice wine holder. Naveyblue, I am about to post my very first lidded jewely box and all of mine were cut with a bandsaw, they are a blast.
