I bought this miter saw years ago and made the stand for it then. It has been a good saw and the stand is very solid and fairly portable. I have used it in the shop and out on jobs, and it has served me very well. But I just bought a new Bosch gliding saw, (you can see the start of it’s new home in the background of photo 3), so this one is for sale. I am posting this to share ideas for making a folding stand that anyone may be in need of. Anyone have an opinion about a fair asking price for both saw and stand?
The stand is a good project for anyone needing a stand and I am sure it can be used with other tools. The legs were cut on the saw with compound miter cuts. I used 2×4’s and scrap 3/4 plywood.
Photo 1 shows the saw on the stand, as does photos 2 and 3. Photo 3 shows the main or center part of the stand without the wings mounted. Note how the legs flair out both to the sides and to the front and back, this makes the stand very solid and stable when set up. In Photo 3 you can kind of see where hinges are located so that they will open to the open position. Just be careful, fingers can be pinched. Also note the notches in the legs, this allows the legs to fold up and they are held in the folded position by use of two screen door hooks. The right leg is folded up first and then the left. The hooks on the left leg will hold both legs closed.
Photo 4 shows the hardware that holds the wings to the main stand. Note the small eye bolt to the right of this hardware, this is where the screen door hooks on the left leg, hook to hold the legs closed.
I hope that some Lumber Jocks out there got an idea or two to use in a future project.
Photo 5 shows the stand folded up with the saw in front.
