Here’s my humble entry to the Bomb Squad. Base is Walnut I believe withAsh for the clock mounting. The painted sticks are Birch. Spray bomb lacquer finish.

Edit: For others that have done this, search for 'Bomb Clock' here on LJ.

That entry should blow the others right out of the water.

Good luck,

Hey!

That LOOKS really COOL!

What a way to get someone’s attention!!

Just don’t let the Feds see it! LOL

Nice JOB!

I guess the battery is built-in to the clock! LOL

FUN!

Thank you!

Excuse my naivete’, rance, but is this really some sort of competition being put on by the local bomb squad? Regardless, I think you should send it to them….maybe a phone call first….one of them would probably treasure it as a desk top clock. They may even want to put a plaque on it and present it to the Chief.

Anyway, great job.

I have a brother and sister in law who collect clocks and have just found their Christmas project.

Thank you all. I am certainly not the first do build one of these. No andy_P, not any official competitions, just an off-hand comment. I’ve actually put this in the gallery where I display a few art pieces.

BTW: The clock insert is from WoodCraft. Not the smallest one, the next size up. maybe ~2 1/2” diameter.

Very nice, but also too bad, because you’re probably now on the Terrorist Watch List, and they will never let you get on an airplane again. Oh well, I suppose you’ll at least be able to keep yourself busy in the workshop.

I think I found a good use for some “less expensive”clocks ( ie: clocks with plastic bezels) that I have been holding on to for some time now…I’ll save my quality WoodCraft fit-ups for nicer clocks : )
Thanks for the great idea , rance !!

Nicely done! This will make a handy travel clock for when I go out of town for work. I’ll just pack it in my carry-on.
