This thing was a royal pain in the butt to make, simple as it looks! Truly a hot mess, I must have stripped and refinished it 3 times. It was done for a friend/client who works in the Federal legal community, so I knew it would be seen by more than a couple of Judges. And hoping to land that ever-elusive “Judge’s Wall” project, I decided it had to be absolutely perfect. Did I mention i’m NOT Amish? So, this just wasn’t gonna happen. I’m sure there are a couple minor flaws, but for my purposes it had to do. I just couldn’t justify chopping up that much beautiful oak just to stick in a dark closet, so I did use the 3/4 veneer red oak panel for the shelves. Big mistake. It’s funny how different types of oak take certain stains in a different way, huh. Oh well, you live and you learn!
