I like the grain pattern that comes from crotch wood. These two bowls are Western Big Leaf Maple. The second one is a big more colorful as the wood has spalted a bit.

The first one has beautiful grain.
The second one is so figured , I have to wonder why the additional lines were cut into it.
Nice shape on both of them : )

One of my favorite woods and you did a great job with it. How big are these bowls? As a separate question, what kind of wood is the table? It looks like some Redwood I was just using.

-- Robert, so much inspiration here, and so little time!

Hi Robert:

The first one is 14.5” across, the second just over 11”. I have more crotch pieces, some bigger than these, and will post them when I can. I should not really be turning so much right now but I got a bunch of good wood for turning recently and am just trying to reduce the clutter !

Sorry to say that the table is just a big box store special. Not even real wood ! A coffee table is planned (but when ??).
