We just had our third boy and the two oldest needed to move into the same room together, which is rather small. My Father in law and I came up with this design to take the existing bed and build a loft over top which he had done some 30 years ago for his kids when he had his third. It was made using 2×4 construction which was then faced with pine to match the existing bed. It was put together using 3 1/2 inch bolts and lag screwed into the studs. This loft bed is not going anywhere soon. Thanks for looking,
Chris

Brilliant! Nice job.Loft beds are great space savers. They allow more efficient utilization of the available household space. Loft beds provide the ideal solution for children of all ages.
