Here is my DVD tower that I built at the same time as my bookcase. This is also made of cherry wood. It is also all solid cherry except for the shelves, which are 3/4” cherry ply with a 1” solid wood front rabbeted on for strength. I also used 1/2” birch plywood for the back.
I did inset doors with a beaded face frame. It took some to get the doors to fit just right but I’m pretty happy with the way they turned out.
For the top i used an ogee bit on the edges of the top and then made my own molding to go underneath that using a bullnose bit and a roundover bit.
The finish is the same as the bookcase so they’d match. I did two coats of Charles Neils pre-conditioner and then General Finishes Cinnamon stain. I then did two coats of de-waxed shellac and and 3 coats of Minwax satin polyacrylic.

Looks like your DVD’s will have a good home. If I am guesstimating the size correctly, that will hold about 400 disks? Sounds like your “collection” is worse than mine!

Haha, yeah my collection is pretty bad.
Yeah, it should hold around 400. It’s a little top heavy so I’m waiting on a brace to get delivered so i can anchor it to the wall. Then i’ll know for sure how many it holds.
Have your say...
