They were adding an office door to a room at my work and they had a left over piece of 4×8 DF header. So, i took it along with 2 short 2×4 stud left overs too. This is “garbage wood”. Heck the header had cracks running through it. So I get it home and resaw it to 1/2” thick planks and let it dry out for a week. After some warping and cracking (I don’t know how I did this) I got it beat into shape. I built the entire table from this wood. Slapped a high gloss finish on (why not high gloss??) and called it done. It is about 21dx21w and 22 tall. Thanks for looking.

Not a thing wrong with it and free too. That’s the way to feel satisfied. Yip.

I have used fir plywood in panels on my barn/shop. They have a great pattern and the aging produces a nice red pattena (sp?) There is a problem as it dries. Due to the rapid growing cycles now used in farming these trees, the plywood seems to shred?

My two cents on a strong but fussy wood.

You did a great job!

Thanks for the feed back guys. Minus the cupping and warping, DF has some beautiful grain. Another lesson learned…

It is some nice grain on there. Mighta gave your saw a bit of a whoopin, but, the table turned out nicely. Plus, ya can’t beat free wood.
