This is my space saving lumber solution for primarily shed workshops. In sheds your with notice the studs stick out form the walls about 3cm so it came into my head you could put any piece of wood that thickness or under in that space by doing this you lose no floor space which is always vital in a small shop. To hold the small pieces of wood all you need to do is put a small strip of wood close to floor screwed into 2 studs, this way you can drop the wood in and then pull it out, just make sure you have room on your wall to pull them out. For the long strips of wood what i did was put a very small strip screwed in between the 2 studs near the floor then around 4 feet up i screwed a gate hinge to a wall and a piece of wood so i can open it to pull long strips out and then close it to stop the planks from tipping over, you can see this in the photos

Interesting solution. I prefer to lay my lumber flat, but that looks like it works well for you

Thank you Adam.
I will be using this idea as there is a small stack of short wood that I am constantly moving around as it is always in the way.
Very clever idea indeed.

Great idea for shops that don’t need insulation…
