Small End Table

This was an end table I had made several months ago, but finally finished it this past weekend.

The top is 4 pieces in the center with small half lap joints, which can’t really be seen in the pictures. I had chipped one of the corners when doing the half laps, so I made it a diamond shape and put a plug in it. I kind of like it more than just the 4 corners coming together, although I could have done a better job with it, I suppose.

I used pocket screws for the legs, although I didn’t have a jig or anything, so I did them freehand.

There are a number of gaps, some of which I tried to fill, but not too successfully (or I didn’t try terribly hard, I guess). It was the second project I did, after my first computer case. Overall I’m happy with it, and it sits proudly in my living room.

It is all solid red oak, and finished with a few coats of General Finishes Arm-R-Seal gloss.

It’s about a 17.5”x17.5” top and about 16” tall.

Lovely little end table, and I think the diamond centre really sets it off! Great job.

Thanks Jim and Craigo.

And to think, the diamond center was only there to cover a mistake, I never thought I would like it so much!
