My son just arrived home from college after his 1st year, and we decided to do this project together. It took a bit longer due to his schedule, but well worth it to get that much time together. It is for his room, which is now a guest room. It (the bed at least) will certainly be his one day. Sorry for the terrible pics, but the room is too narrow to get a good view.
This is essentially an early Stickley design, but we simplified it a bit. We made the end rail thru-tenons blind, as my mortiser/bits won’t do 4” thick. The side rails on the original have keyed thru-tenons, but we replaced that with modern hidden rail hardware. The head board is 60” tall, and foot board is 50”. The other overall dimensions are for a twin XL matress (he’s 6’3”). Finish follows Jeff Jewitt’s recipe for mission oak.
