A good friend of ours is a proud new Mama and I wanted to get her something to mark the occasion. I decided on an old fashioned baby rattle and a simple box to store it in once the babies out grow it. The rattle is Bubinga with 1/4-20 nuts inside for the noise makers and the box is walnut and cocobolo. Just a simple wax finish on the rattle with BLO, poly and wax on the box.

That is a very nice box. How did you turn the rattle to have a hollow in the middle? Was it cut down the middle while it was still square, scooped out for the bolts, and then glued and turned for the rattle? However you made it, it still looks nice and the recipient will get a lot of use out of it.
Have your say...
