It started out when my oldest son, Greg needed a project for school about ancient China… and of course, as an 11 year old, his chosen category was ancient Chinese weapons. His sword is a model of a Miao Dao (think extra long katana). Mahogany blade, Bubinga guard and purple heart handle. Matthew’s (no school project, just for fun) is shorter, closer to a Japanese katana with walnut blade and handle and purple heart guard. Tons of fun and easy to make and got the boys in the shop!

They look great. Nice choice of woods. I can’t wait until my boys are old enough to come out in the shop with me.

Been kind of busy out in the shop and thought I would see what everyone is up to. Looks like the boys are getting into it. How about sending over that finish formula for the Arts & Crafts projects? I need to do some finish work on the cabinets I am making for the shop, good place to practice. I need to make one of those for my grand son, he will love it.
