A couple of my friends got married last weekend right in the middle of bourbon country (Lexington, KY). After their engagement I was given a list of things that they wanted me to make to help them out. On the list was “something to receive the gift cards at the reception” So this is what I came up with.
The barrel is scaled off of an actual barrel and is 10” at the biggest diameter and about 8-3/4” at either end. I turned it on the lathe and then cut out the “bottom” of it and mounted it out the crate to receive more cards.
I came across an article on www.makeprojects.com about chemical woodburning a while back and have been wanting to try it (http://makeprojects.com/Project/Chemical-Woodburning/827/1#.T8eEL1I8V8E). I figured this was the perfect opportunity. So I made my stamps and it was a success.
Here are a few pictures I took along the way and a picture of the final project.
Cheers!
