This project was commissioned by a lady who had 5 sets of silverware and wanted a special cabinet to store them. She is a big fan of Tell City and wanted this cabinet built and finished to match the rest of her Tell City furniture. It stands about 40’ and is made of maple. The drawers and interior are made of Beech wood and the finish is Andover maple with several coats of lacquer that were “toned” to provide the match. The knife panel attached to the bottom of the cover will get completely wrapped with a special silverware cloth (I guess it retards tarnishing). For a project that was designed at her dining room table, I think she got the proportions and styling “right on” It was a fun project to make and she was just giddy when she came to pick it up; and that is what makes it rewarding to do commission work.
