Here are 2 spoons I made today. The broken but “fixed” one is redbud and the new one is maple. The redbud’s handle snapped in half so….......I made another handle block, tapped it, and inserted the spoon into it. It turned out better than I expected. The only reason I “saved” it was because the spoon part is so dag-gone nice.

The maple spoon is sorta what I call a tasting spoon. The spoon is deeper in the back and gradually goes to nothing at the front edge. Almost like a mini-ladle/scoop. The maple is still green which I recently learned from watching a Roy Underhill video is when a carving should be done. They are both finished with olive oil.

Thanks for the looks/comments.

You’re doing really good on these. I really like the redbud. Classy wood.

-- Mother Nature created it, I just assemble it.

Lovely spoons. Where’s the fork? Is it hard to carve them properly?
