May, 2012—I picked up some odd-shaped hard wood cut-offs from the scrap pile at Anderson Lumber, St. Petersburg, Florida. At least once a week for the past year I looked at those beautiful pieces of wood, hoping for some inspiration. Eventually, this design popped out. It is a fairly simply two drawer band saw box. The front is not flat. There is a gentle curve.
The project is finished with tung oil.

Cat eyes? Love the various wood together.

Another good one, Art. I’m glad you never run out of great ideas for band saw boxes. You are an inspiration.

Well done, is there a limit to the shape of a bandsawn box?

No, Tony, as you well know, there are no limits to band saw box design. If one can think it- one can make it. The only restrictions are the throat/re-saw capacity of the band saw and the thickness of the blade. That is what I love so much about the genre- no limits.

Thank you all for your nice comments on this box. I agree with Donna: no limits. I only made one band saw box that was a total disaster. I had not thought about gravity in my design, and one of the drawers kept falling out! But hey, I learned from that mistake. :-)

You could use magnets to keep the errant drawer in place!

Art, you are a master at these and this is one of your best. Hope to see more of your daughter’s work as well.
