This is some awesome walnut and maple I had around the shop. I am taking some advice from Alan the Boxguy about making boxes do something. This wood had so much character, I thought it would make a good home for teas with just as much character. I would like to add dividers but I am not sure that I will have the time before the show on Saturday.

Walnut and maple are such a joy to work with, I sometimes forget that working with all the exotics. It’s nice to get back to my roots and work with locals woods.

Thanks for taking a look.

Joey

Thanks Monte, I may have to try something different here soon. It’s been a while since I have built anything but boxes. They are addicting. LOL

Busy is good. I haven’t been that good lately, sick & all. I haven’t been to the shop in over a month I think. Just real depressed too. I’ve been trying to get on SSI for over a year for my disabilities only to get denied & denied. Trying to make ends meet is just hard enough each month. Other than that I guess I’m good. How have you been?

Joey, Great looking box using local hardwoods, can’t beat that Black Walnut, beatiful wood & nice to work with. Looks like a couple of strips of Purplehart under the lid, a very nice touch. How do you do your hinges? I have been using brass welding rods or brass pins, but am doing some boxes now with a walnut dowel for a hinge since I can’t say I was completely happy with the brass pins…....................Jack

Nice woods, great craftsmanship. The big ‘cap’ over the hinge pin is a nice design element.

Joey,

Great craftsmanship, as always. You have a real knack for featuring the best in great wood. The lift is a great touch. Best of luck on your show. Keep us informed.
