Kazoo

This is a great left-over wood project (from WOOD magazine). It’s got two strips of wax paper, one on either side, to make a loud buzz when humming. The tension of the paper has to be carefully tuned: too tight and it won’t buzz. Mine wound up with one side a bit louder than the other and I never really got it evened out. This was a gift for a friend of our three-year-old. It’s walnut and maple.
