I love hedge. It is hard, sparks will come off your tools, and it doesn’t play well with planers. But it is so cool looking! Dimensions”12×7x4 1/2”. Box joints, Shipwright hinge, ‘antique ply bottom’. Finish is 5 coats shellac. The live edge is actually where the wood split and I wire brushed the split to create the live edge effect.

Definitely a cool wood Andy. I made the saw frame on my chevalet from it and use it wherever strength, hardness or color cry out for it.
On another topic…... nice box! love the color.

Thanks guys. Nope Jonathan, I post them as soon as the finish dries. I admit to being a bit compulsive but I’m one of those people who has to be doing something! I just put 2 coats of finish on my first EZ Miter box today so be on the lookout.

Andy, this is another awesome box. I love the color. Your work really makes me want to do some wooden hinges. They seem like such a cool touch to add to a box.
I was reading the comments and I want to try the EZ Miter boxes also. I will have to go back and do my research and see what I can come up with.
Have a great night Andy

Send me a pm Grizz so you don’t embarass me publicly! I’d send you some but mine comes in the form of logs that weigh a ton. I would bet it grows there as it grows about everywhere and is a TOUGH tree. But so is mesquite and it won’t grow where I live. Wierd huh?

Nice grain. Love the wood. Of course the craftsmanship is top notch.

Andy,
Great work. You have mastered this form completely. Osage Orange is a beautiful wood, but like you say it is tough to work with. I like it even more as it ages and deepens in color. Your wooden hinge is such a nice touch and it really adds to this box. Keep posting and keep boxing.
