My dad taught me that when building something, if it’s not straight and perfect, if won’t work or come together right. So, when I make things, I try to get them as symetrical and straight and perfect as I can. All the way down to getting the grain of the wood to go the same direction. With this project, I threw all that out the window!! It was very uncomfortable cutting the top and bottom to mismatch when put together. Also, to make the body sections misalign (the grain going every which way). I let the compulsive “straight” out when gluing the 2 pieces of turntable together, though. The grains match :) As “off” and wrong as it looks to me, it seems to have turned out good in the end.
