Thanks to the other jocks out there that have posted different style lamps to get the creative juices flowin for my newest project. While I’m at it, thanks to all the jocks that have posted everything! As you can see, the concept isn’t too difficult, but for my first try I think I came up with a winner. They accent my homemade bed quite nicely, too. The veneer used was an ambrosia maple. And after I showed my daughter, she immediately said “that is so epic, daddy!” Yup, she just turned 13. She liked it so much that I asked her if she would like to make one, so we did…just with a little twist—the lamp that is more horizontal. It was easy to do, but what made it so worthwhile was her reaction to it. Now her friends want one. Thanks for viewing, and ALL comments are welcome…good, bad and more ideas!

Those look really cool. Hopefully you’ll get some orders for more soon.

It looks like you either used a colored bulb, or tinted the ambrosia maple inside. Either way, those are very, very neat and I may just copy that one…

Nice to share with the kids
They grow up so fast
How thick was the veneer?

Is the veneer on anything? Or is it just the veneer? (in addition to the how thick is it from above)
I really like these, very well done. What I thought when I saw the square one was make it larger, and a table (still with light inside). Now I have something else I want to try :-D
Thanks for sharing!

jamie—I’m not sure how thick the veneer is offhand, sorry. There was other veneer to choose from, but i liked the grains enough to pass on the others.
mosquito—the veneer isn’t ‘on’ anything…i cut a slit in the bottom and top cross pieces to hold it in place and framed in the outsides so light wouldn’t escape through the sides, just the top, bottom, but most importantly the sides.
Have your say...
